How Plenish Drinks use Flare to offer precise delivery dates by customer location?
Plenish Drinks is a premium plants-based drinks brand, owned by Britvic plc and Carlsberg Group.
In December 2024, Plenish moved from WooCommerce to Shopify. Since Plenish are UK-based and sell perishable products (juices, almond milk and more), they needed offer delivery date choices to their customers for certain locations across the UK.
If Plenish didn't offer delivery date choices, then customers who didn't want delivery right away would not purchase or would have to manually reach out to request delayed delivery.
If Plenish received orders to customers in postcode locations they couldn't deliver to, they would have to cancel and refund those orders.
If customers were able to select Sunday delivery or next day delivery after 11am, then these orders wouldn't have been delivered on time.
All of this would have resulted in customers getting orders too early or too late, customer complaints and cancelled or refunded orders.
This is where Flare came in.
The Shopify agency, Real Agency, installed Flare on the Shopify app store.
They setup Flare's delivery date picker on the cart page and assigned a shipping zone for the UK. Here, they were able to exclude certain postcodes. When customers entered excluded postcodes, the message would show "Sorry, we don't currently deliver to this area."
Plenish then setup the earliest customers could choose delivery for (next day) and latest (14 days away), added a cutoff time of 11am for next day delivery and enabled date selection on Monday - Saturday, based on their 3PL fulfillment partner, Mintsoft by The Access Group, being able to ship Sunday - Friday.
This produced an accurate delivery date range that looked like this.
It was important that selected dates appeared throughout the customer journey. Flare automatically integrates and shows selected dates to customers on the checkout page, customer accounts and the order confirmation email.
In addition to this, Plenish uses Flare's "Date by Product Availability" feature to keep selling out of stock products. When out of stock items are soon to be available at future delivery dates, customers can continue to buy those products from those future delivery dates.
What have been the results?
Increase in conversions: More Plenish customers place orders for immediate delivery or later delivery
Increase in average order values: More items are being added to basket across in-stock and out of stock products for different delivery dates
Increase in delivery accuracy: 100% of orders for Plenish are scheduled for delivery dates - for tomorrow, the day after tomorrow or a day after that (up to 2 weeks).
Reduction in customer complaints and refunds: With postcode exclusions, cutoff times, block dates and clear communication of dates to customers, customer complaints and refunds have reduced
Increase in repeat orders: More Plenish customers are returning to purchase again
